EcoZoom and TRINE bring solar power to over 30,000 people! September 27 2017

Last year we had our first crowdfunding campaign with TRINE and secured enough funding to bring solar powered lighting to close to 40,000 Kenyans! The campaign went so well, so we partnered with Trine once again this year to bring solar to yet another 30,000 people living off the grid.

Thousands of Kenyans live in some of the most beautiful and secluded parts of the country, but do not have access to electricity. Can you imagine, once the sun sets, your day stops? It is easy to underestimate how difficult it can be to study, cook or even just charge your phone when you don't have access to light or electricity.

The investments in this project will bring 8,500 solar products to a rural community in Kenya. This means that 31,000 people will gain access to electricity, and over 8,000 tons of CO2 emissions will be reduced!

Using kerosene or diesel for lighting causes severe health problems such as chronic coughs and asthma. Switching to solar improves these problems straight away.

As Joshua, an EcoZoom customer, told us "No more smoke – no more coughing. Kerosene was expensive – solar is much more cost effective”.

Solar energy is free! It improves the health of people and the planet. With Joshua's EcoZoom solar light, all costs are eliminated!

We have been trading solar lights since June 2016, and have helped thousands of families. Due to our success in Kenya, we are planning to expand into Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda in the next few months!

Our products are amongst the most popular and innovative on the market. They are built thanks to end user research which tells us exactly what our customers want. The products are flexible and can be used in or outdoors. In addition, they combine key features like FM Radio (enabling people to stay connected to the news), phone charging and a bright light all in one!

The products to be distributed with this project are the Radio Lamp, the Duo-Light and the Multi-Light. With them, users can enjoy up to 30 hours of light, listen to the radio and charge their phones at home or on the go!

We look forward to sharing the progress of this project! Please enjoy the beautiful photos that Trine took with us, and head over to www.ecozoom.com for more information.
